Located in the Littoral region of Argentina and bordering the country of Uruguay, the beautiful province of Entre Rios is a spectacular mix of flat marshy lands, national parks, agriculture, and fascinating cities, and home to Argentina’s longest and wildest carnival.

Just like its neighbours to the north, Entre Rios is also in the Mesopotamian region of Argentina, characterized by flat plains, wetlands, subtropical forests, country land, and four famous rivers; the Parana River, the Uruguay River, the Mocoreta River, and the Guayquiaro River.  The climate in Entre Rios is slightly more divided than the other nearby Northern provinces with half of the province being subtropical, wet and humid with an average of 25degreesC, and the other being temperate, moderately the same throughout the year with an average temperature of 21degrees C.

The Province of Entre Rios is known for the beautiful and enchanting city of Gualeguaychú and the historic and thriving capital, the city of Parana.

Gualeguaychu
Gualeguaychu is the largest and considered one of the nicest cities in Entre Rios. This tranquil city is great anytime of the year whether you come to enjoy the city sights, spend time down at the riverside, walk the beautiful tree-lined hills, walk through the nearby hills, or visit the several interesting museums and art galleries displayed in the city.  There are also many outdoors activities offered here but especially popular is visiting one of the many nearby hot springs, perfect for a day of relaxation, as well as taking advantage of the streams, canals, and rivers for some exciting sport fishing.  Gualeguaychu is famous around Argentina and Latin America for its yearly celebration of carnival which is often compared to the carnival held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.  During January and February the city of Gualeguaychu lights up with colourful decorations, parades, parties, moving floats, Brazilian influenced music, and locals in costumes dancing and singing from day until night.

Parana
Parana, the capital of the Entre Rios province, is a city of over 300,000 people and features beautiful architecture and historic buildings, the Parana River, as well as plenty of theatres, museums, art galleries, and restaurants.  The city is also known for its water based activities, being situated on the Parana River, such as windsurfing, water skiing, swimming, sailing, and sport fishing.  Besides these activities, visitors can explore further by venturing just outside of the city to the beautiful and green landscape to partake in horseback riding, hiking, mountain biking, nature walks, and agrotourism.

Entre Rios also boasts some of the most beautiful national parks in the area including the El Palmar and the Diamante.

El Palmar
The El Palmar National Park was created in 1966 in order to preserve the Yatay palm tree that is located in its grasslands, woodlands, and forest, and to be home to hundreds of different plant and animal species. This national park welcomes visitors to explore its unique ecosystem and discover its wide array of rivers, canals, birds, animals, and birds.

Diamante
The Diamante National Park protects the area of the Delta of the river Parana that features hundreds of small streams and canals that lead to all ends of this magnificent area. This area is an extremely important natural region of Argentina and can be accessed by small boats and canoes to explore its series of small streams, extensive and unique wildlife, lagoons, flatlands, and islands.

The province of Entre Rios is truly spectacular to visit both for its beautiful cities, stunning outdoors, magnificent rivers, and wild carnival.  The cities of Gualeguaychu and Parana offer visitors a myriad of sights to see within the city, including spectacular architecture, stunning walkways, beautiful beaches and riverside coastlines, as well as cultural and art centres. If you can swing it, it is recommendable to come to Entre Rios during the month(s) of carnival in order to truly witness an Argentine celebration, the influence of Brazilian music and dance, and the country’s best, longest, and wildest carnival around.
