Located in the Lake District and in the province of Nequen, Villa La Angostura is another one of Argentina’s outdoor mountain villages that is surrounded by incredible beauty, striking landscapes, and offers a myriad of natural outdoor activities all year round.

With a population of almost 13,000 residents, this small village is located on the shores of Lago Nahuel Huapi and surrounded by endless forest, lakes, rivers, beach shores, and mountain peaks. Villa La Angostura is separated into two areas: one is El Cruce, the commercial centre located along the highway, and the other is La Villa, situated beside the lake shore. The commercial center, although small, offers everything you could need including various tourism offices.  Along the main shores, 3,000 beds have been distributed giving visitors a myriad of accommodation to choose from when coming to relax in this peaceful mountain scenery.  There are also plenty of dining options, each combining the unique tastes of the Patagonian region and prepared by some of the regions most sought after chef’s and cooks. Everything is designed with comfort and relaxation in mind in this little mountain village, offering peaceful corner cafes, boutique shops, spa’s and wellness centres, and more. When you are not spending your time in the outdoors, exploring the surrounding areas, the town offers a delightful and peaceful stay for any type of travel, and is why visitors return to this mountain spot year after year.

Sitting only 45km from the Chilean border, Villa La Angostura, is surrounded by gorgeous mountain ranges, the Myrtle Forest, Lake Nahuel Huapi, Moutn Bayo, Lake Correntoso, and various picturesque beach shores.

One of the major attractions is visiting the unique Myrtle Forest either by guide, hiking, or by taking a catamaran across Lake Nahuel. The forest is made of various rare tree and plant species, some more than 400 and even 600 years old.

Correntoso Lake, only 5km from the village centre, offers beautiful beaches and a fantastic lake to enjoy various water sports including canoeing, kayaking, swimming and fishing. This is one of the most popular spots to visit for both locals and visitors.

Lake Nahuel is also a great fishing spot for both locals and visitors, offering sport fishing and fly fishing throughout the year, either solo or with hired guides.  Near to Lake Nuhuel there are various areas to take forest walks, go mountain climbing, or go horseback riding through the lower mountain areas.

During the winter, visitors flock to this area to visit Mount Bayo, a gorgeous and popular ski resort. Offering 23 runs and 12 lifts, the ski hill caters to all levels of skiers, as well as presents alpine skiing for advanced skiers. The hill, only 19 km from Villa la Angostura, also offers its own accommodation and gastronomy options, giving visitors the chance to stay in either. During the summer months, Mount Bayo turns into an attractive area to go horseback riding as the slopes turn into green grassy slopes, the weather is warm with a cool wind, and the views are priceless.

Whether winter or summer, Villa la Angostura offers its visitors a relaxing, fun, and unforgettable experience in the middle of some of the most beautiful landscapes in Argentina.
