The beautiful village of Tafi de Valle, translated to ‘town with splendid entrance’, located in the Tucuman province, truly lives up to its name and is a true sight to be seen, taking any traveler’s breath away. Only 108km from the capital city Tucuman, this hidden gem located in the mountains, may not be the easiest of villages to reach taking into considerations its narrow, steep, and windy roads used to arrive, but it is definitley worth the trip.
Tafi de Valle is located on the hill El Pelado, surrounded by beautiful mountains, rolling hills, and long stretching rivers. This village, the entrance to the Calchaqui Vally, sits in between many of Argentina’s famous groups of moutains such as the Calchaqui mountains, Tafi mountains, and the Nunorco Grande.This smal village sees mild temperatures all year along, making a visit possible at any time. The summer months see temperatures of around 25C, while the winter seldom falls belown 15C.
Arriving in Tafi de Valle…
Arriving at this village may be one of the most beautiful experiences imaginable in this area of the country and, with the its windy roads and steep hills encountered along the way, it certainly gets your heart going. The route takes you through the narrow gorge of Rio de los Sosas, surround by beautiful subtropical forests, and cascades down and back up the regions mountains, past small mountain villages, and finally arrives at Tafi de Valle. It is quite the picture perfect journey, so make sure to grab a window seat if you can!
The village of Tafi de Valle itself is peaceful, quiant, and traditional. This hillside village offers visitors pictureque buildings and a few good hotels and restaurants as well as a few camping sights around and outside the village. Tafi de Valle is a popular relaxing destination for the residents of Tucuman, but over the years as tourism rises in Argentina, people from all over the world are coming to explore its beauty.
